Carl Moos – St Moritz Engadin poster artist
Carl Moos was born in 18878 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. He was the son of Franz Moos, a portrait painter. He trained in commercial art in Munich and worked as an illustrator for, among others, the Münchener Tagespresse. Carl Moos was a German artist and illustrator, notable for his Art Deco inspired sports and travel posters often featuring skiing and ski resorts.Amongst his most popular posters are his Zermatt travel poster featuring a stunning image of the Matterhorn mountain. The 1928 Olympic Games St Moritz poster depicting a downhill skier and a great poster for Swissair Services featuring an aeroplane flying over the Alps.
