Rainier National Park Vintage Skiing Poster
This Rainier National Park poster was created by the American artist Edward Hopper in 1927. Ranier National Park is one of the most popular national parks in the United States. The park is home to Mount Rainier, a 14,410-foot peak that is the tallest mountain in the Cascade Range. Located at the foot of the majestic mountain is Paradise Valley, a well-known and popular American ski resort. Paradise Valley has become one of the most popular skiing destinations in the Pacific Northwest and a beloved retreat for skiers and snowboarders from all corners of the globe. With its craggy summits blanketed by deep powder and surrounded by rugged pine forests, this stunning valley between December and May is an idyllic winter environment that offers winter sports enthusiasts the perfect snowy playground.
Located just a short drive from Seattle, Ranier National Park is renowned for its spectacular scenery and abundant snowfall. In fact, it turns out that Mount Rainier is one of the snowiest places on the planet! Records gathered over the last 100 years show the average annual snowfall at Rainier’s Paradise area is more than 53 feet!
As the artist Edward Hopper has depicted on this vintage American skiing poster depicts there is no shortage of snow on this landscape. Hopper’s image of a half-buried, snow-covered Swiss-style chalet, stylised pine trees, and jagged snow-capped mountain peaks that contrast with the rich blue sky, the poster is reminiscent of the 1937 Austriche poster by the Swiss artist Erich von Wunschheim and the Winter in Yugoslavia skiing poster created by Janez Trpin in the 1950s.
Hopper’s American Winter Sport poster was created to promote the Mount Rainier National Park and the Paradise Valley Ski Resort. It is known for its stunning glaciers and pristine backcountry making Rainier National Park a paradise for skiers.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £15. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
