Poster: Versailles Chapelle Royal poster – The Royal Chapel poster
The Royal Chapel at Versailles is the fifth and final chapel of the château of Versailles. The building was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and was the last building constructed by Louis XIV. The building was completed in 1710 at the end of the reign of Louis XIV and is an absolute masterpiece.
The vaulted ceiling of the nave, which Hardouin-Mansart designed without transvers ribs to create a unified surface, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity: in the centre is God the Father in his Glory by Antoine Coypel, in the apse is The Resurrection by Charles de La Fosse, and above the Royal tribune is The Descent of the Holy Ghost by Jean Jouvenet.
This poster features the Antoine Coypel’s God the Father in his Glory. It represents God the Father in His Glory Bringing to the World the Promise of Redemption.
The Chapel was dedicated to Saint Louis, the patron saint of the king and an ancestor of the royal house, and included references to the Sainte-Chapelle of Paris which he had founded.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
