Take a Kodak with you poster. The Kodak Girl (White Cliffs) – John Hasall – 1910
This is a reproduction of a classic 1913 Kodak Girl advertising poster. The Kodak Girl stands on top of the White Cliffs. She is holding her ‘Kodak’ camera seeking one of those ‘Kodak moments’ to happen.
In 1880, George Eastman opened the Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company. His first camera, the Kodak, was sold in 1888 and consisted of a box camera with 100 exposures. The camera was simple enough for anyone to operate. He then set out to market it to those he thought most likely to use it… women.
In 1893, he introduced the Kodak Girl, a fashionable, young, vibrant and independent woman who often appeared in ads in a distinctive blue and white or black and white striped dress. Until the mid-1920’s the Kodak Girl roamed the world taking pictures as she went. By 1927, Eastman Kodak was the largest U.S. company in the industry.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as a fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
