Poster: Les Maitresses de Dracula poster – The Brides of Dracula (French affiche) – Koutachy
This is a great reproduction of the French Grande Horror movie poster for The Brides of Dracula (Les Maitresses de Dracula). Artist Joseph Koutachy has captured Dracula character in full on, dramatic teeth and cape mode. Dracula is surrounded by the obligatory Hammer film extras, the bats and images of several women, his brides. In the foreground, one women is shown presenting the Baron with his next victim.
The film also known under its English title of the Mistresses of Dracula is a British Horror film by Hammer Film Productions. It was directed by Terence Fisher and stars Peter Cushing as Dr Van Helsing, Freda Jackson as Greta, Martita Hunt as Baroness Meister, and Yvonne Monlaur as Danielle. David Peel is unnamed on the publicity poster but appeared as Baron Meister.
Les Maitresses de Dracula was presented as a sequel to The Nightmare of Dracula (1958). However, the Dracula character, originally played by Christopher Lee, does not appear in this film. Lee had temporarily delayed his return to the role,no longer wishing to take it on for personal reasons. The beginning of the film therefore announces in voiceover that Count Dracula died in The Nightmare, and has sent one of his disciples to earth to propagate the cult of vampiris. The role went to David Peel who played Dracula’s disciple vampire, Baron Meinster.

Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £15. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
