Andermatt Gotthard Schweiz Poster
We cannot find any information about the artist who painted this poster but the image is absolutely superb. The Andermatt Poster offers a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the Swiss Oberland covered in a thick white blanket of snow.
In the center of the picture, the famous red Furka Oberland steam train can be seen deep within the carved out snow. It’s billowing out it’s white smoke as it works hard to push two carriages full of eager skiers and tourists up the steep mountain slope. At the front of the train the rotary snowplough pushes the snow to the sides of the tracks to help keep the railway line clear and open as long into winter as possible.
The artist has included the mountain peaks of the iconic Gotthard massif that stretches for over 60 miles. It is home to some of the country’s highest peaks, including the Matterhorn, Pizzo Rotondo, Pizzo Centrale and Piz Gannaretsch which make an impressive backdrop to the poster design. The Andermatt poster is simply signed with a single capital letter T.
This is a very rare poster and one that hardy ever comes to auction. It is highly sought after and when they do appear command prices in excess of £9,500.
