Wales Travel By Train poster – Frank Wootton – c1960 – No Text
£3.99 – £14.00
Poster: Wales Travel By Train poster – Frank Wootton – c1960.
This is a reproduction of the original artwork for the quad royal railway poster created by Frank Wootton around 1960. Wootton was commissioned by British Railways (BR) Western Region to produce an image to promote rail travel to Wales. Whilst not actually being an image of a particular place, The scene Wootton realised is a composite of many elements found in the beautiful Welsh landscape.
In the image Wootton has included a river in the foreground, crossed by a stone bridge. An angler fishes on one bank, and on the other side of the river, cows approach the water to drink. Beyond the bridge is a ruined castle, similar in some respects to Harlech Castle whilst dominating the background is the Snowdonia mountain range, with a peak resembling Cader Idris. The original poster was produced at 1016mm x 1270mm.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
