Vintage Qantas London airline poster – Harry Rogers – c1950

The Australian born artist Harry Rogers was a regular contributor to Qantas airlines poster campaigns. He was responsible for several different poster campaigns including the ‘Fly there by Qantas’ series that this vintage London poster is part of. The strapline on the poster beneath the logo promotes Qantas as Australia’s Round The World Airline. Other destinations in the series include Rome, Hawaii and New York.

This is a reproduction of a rare ‘London’ poster that was originally produced in the 1950s. The poster is created in an artistic, freehand, pan and ink, geometric illustrative style. It depicts the scene across  Westminster Bridge across the River Thames. The view takes in the Houses of Parliament and Elizabeth Tower, better known, incorrectly as Big Ben. The poster gives the impression of a busy capital city, with pedestrians, cars, boats and London’s iconic red double decker buses all making an appearance. The poster reads ‘London – Fly there by Qantas, Australia’s round-the-world airline.‘

In good condition original copies of this poster sell for in excess of £1200.
