Trocadero Adria Ausstellung poster – August Fischinger – 1913
This vintage dancing poster, by the artist August Fischinger, features an elegantly dressed couple dancing the night away. The poster was created to advertise the Trocadero venue at Adria Ausstellung in Vienna. The poster bears the words Music, Dance, Life
The Adria Ausstellung or Adria exhibition was a theme park designed and created in 1913. For the event, buildings and even entire streets of cities on the Adriatic coast were replicated in the Prater area. An artificial lake was created to create the illusion of a port. A Venetian Rector’s palace, a rotunda, a forty-meter-high campanile, a half-scale replica of the Austrian Lloyd’s passenger ship Wien and the narrow streets of Alt-Abbazia or the Ca d’oro of Pirano from the 15th century were all replicated to create the atmosphere of the Adriatic Coast.
The event took place from May 3rd to October 5th and was intended to promote cultural and economic ties with the Adriatic coast.
Original copies of this poster rarely come up for sale and command an asking price of over £1000.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints
