Tombstone Arizona Sanborn Map – 1886
This vintage art print features an 1886 street map of the Old Wild West frontier town of Tombstone. It shows the area of the OK Corral where famous Earp versus Clayton shoot-out took place.
A thirty second shoot-out in the afternoon of October 26 1881 has left an indelible mark on history. The legendary, real-life story of Wyatt Earp, his brothers, Virgil and Morgan and Doc Holliday in a gunfight with Ike and Billy Clanton and brothers Tom and Frank McLaury.
On finding the Clantons and the McLaurys in a lot near the Old Kindersley Corral, shots erupted. The short skirmish left Billy Clanton and Tom and Frank McLaury dead. Ike Clanton and two other cowboys who were unarmed were allowed to run away. On the Earps’ side, Virgil was shot through the calf and Morgan was shot across the back, injuring both shoulder blades and a vertebra and Holliday was grazed by a bullet. Wyatt remained unharmed.
The legendary shoot-out has become one of the most famous events of the Old Wild West.
This print is a map of the town of Tombstone, created just a few years after the gunfight. Fremont Street and the OK Corral are clearly shown.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
