The Golden Pass route is widely considered one of the world’s most picturesque railway journeys. It starts in the German speaking city of Lucerne and ends in the French speaking city of Montreux. The GoldenPass Line passes through a dazzling variety of Switzerland’s most spectacular lakeside and mountain scenery.
Upon leaving Lucerne the train passes the foot of the Pilatus Mountain. Occasional glimpses of Lake Lucerne can be seen. The journey continues past two more lakes, the Sarnersee and Lungernsee before ascending to an altitude of 1008m on the Brünig Pass. Once through the pass, the train continues its journey to the scenic town of Spiez with its views of Mount Niesen and the magnificent Lake Thun, before moving on to Zweisimmen. The train then climbs to the highest point of the journey, at 1279m, near Saanenmöser, before approaching the famous ski resort of Gstaad. It’s a popular destination amongst the wealthy and famous. FGrom here begins the descent to Montreaux. The cogwheel track providing spectacular views of Lake Geneva. Captivating views of pine and fir forests, alpine valley meadows, clusters of traditional chalets dotting green hillsides and dramatic mountain peaks are offered the entire length of the train ride.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as a fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £15. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
