Director Martin Scorsese’s landmark motion picture, about a taxi driver with an obsession to save a young prostitute and an affinity for hard-core violence to achieve his ambitions. Robert DeNiro turned out an incredible performance as Travis Bickel, in a frightening, Oscar-nominated performance. The film was ranked asthe fifth-greatest film of all time on its directors’ poll. In 1994, the film was considered “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant by the US Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
