This is a variation of the St Moritz horse racing poster. The St Moritz lettering along with a sun icon appears overprinted onto the famous poster. The sun image is a popular recurring theme and has appeared on several other St Moritz posters over the years.

Each year, St-Moritz in Switzerland hosts a horse racing championship on the frozen lake. Hugo Laubi created several different posters for the annual equestrian events. This wonderful poster beautifully captures the essence of the St Moritz horse race. This version of the poster appears to be a generic one for the race as there are no specific details on the poster and it reads in four different languages. It simply states St Moritz  – Schweiz – Switzerland – Suisse – Svizzera.

Horse racing at St Moritz is a legendary event that has entertained the rich and famous for 115 years. The unique race first took place in 1907 is the only horse race in the world that takes place on a frozen lake. The racecourse lies on half-meter thick ice on Lake Moritz in Switzerland surrounded by incredible mountain scenery.  Each year, over three weekends in January and February, up to 20 races take place. Horse racing is just one of the events though. The so-called Skikjöring races were first held in Lapland and in 1906 raced the streets between St. Moritz to Champfèr. Today, these races form part of the exclusive St Moritz events in the midst of the grand scenery of the Engadine mountains. Other events include chariot races, pony races, trotting races and skijoring. Skijoring is the impressive sport of skiing on the snow at speeds of up to 60km whilst being towed by the horse. Madness? yes!, dangerous? definitely, but it must be great fun to watch.
