Paris Orly poster Gateway to Europe – Air France – Nathan – c1960
This is Paris Orly vintage portrays some of Frances most notable landmarks as seen through the eyes of the French artist and Graphic Designer Jacques Nathan Garamond. Nathan created many posters for Air France. On this one he has treated the attractions of Paris in a stained-glass, mosaic, graphic style against a background of light blue arrows. The arrows signify that Orly is a portal to European destinations in any direction. Not only to the French people but also international passengers needing to catch a connecting flight.
Paris Orly was Frances largest airport up until the opening of Charles de Gaule airport in 1974. Orly still remains the busiest French airport for domestic traffic and the second busiest French airport overall in passenger traffic.
Original copies of this poster are relatively easy to track down and can currently (2020) be purchased for around £500-£700. This is a great price, if you can afford it, for anyone wishing to become an original poster collector.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as a fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
