Nice A Digne par Lautorail – Chanteau – 1935
£4.50 – £16.00
Nice A Digne par Lautorail poster – Chanteau – 1935.
This is a reproduction vintage Nice A Digne poster. It was created by the French artist Gabriel Chanteau for the Chemins de Fer de la Provence in 1935. The Chemins de Fer de Provence is a small rail company providing a daily train service between Nice and Digne-les-Bains in Provence. Their one route, which dates from the 1890s, is known locally as the Train des Pignes.
The poster features Touët-sur-Var, a town in the Alpes-Maritimes area of southeastern France. Touët is a medieval village with very tall houses built into a vertical cliff, known as vilage perchés. These are more than 120 of these exquiste village perchés in hilltop locations across Provence that offer an authentic taste of rural France. Villages like Gordes, Seillans, Le Barroux, Peillon, Montauroux and of course Touët-sur-Var are great examples.
Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as a fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £12. So you can bag a print and frame for a great price.
