Mickey Mouse The Wayward Canary – 1932

This is a reproduction of a cart0on film poster The Wayward Canary. It is a Mickey Mouse cartoon that debuted on October 28, 1932. It stars Mickey and Minnie Mouse and co-starred Pluto.

The disney.fandom.com website describes the summary as ‘Mickey’s bought a canary to give Minnie as a pet, but doesn’t know that the bird has a bunch of hatchlings in her cage, too. When they get away and fly around Minnie’s house, an old cat tries to catch them and Mickey and Pluto destructively tries to keep that from happening.’

The poster was created to promote the Disney cartoon. It was Mickey Mouse’s fifth short, running at just seven minutes long.  The Mickey Mouse poster features Minnie Mouse at the piano accompanied by Mickey on the flute with a canary flying around their heads.

There are only three known copies of this poster extant and one of those resides in the Disney Archives. An original copy of this poster was listed on an online website in 2020 with a staggering purchase price of £53,000.
