It really is showtime! This bright golden coloured Rene Gruau Lido poster was produced to advertise a cabaret and burlesque show at Le Lido on the Champs-Élysées. The show ‘Grand Jeu’ is one of those ambiguous terms that doesn’t have a specific translation.  In this case, we’d go with The Great Show, but it could equally be The Great Game or The Big Deal.

The Rene Gruau poster features a line of beautiful dancing girls with the name of the venue proudly displayed. The vintage dancing poster explains that the new show features 10 unique attractions with performances by the 30 Bluebell Girls.

Le Lido opened in 1946 and is well-known for its exotic shows, can-can dancers, singers, and other performers. The colours and striking Gruau painting ensure this poster will look superb hanging on any wall.
