Davos Parsenn Travel Poster
There’s something about the Swiss Alps that is just so magical. Maybe it’s the way the snow glitters in the sunlight, or the way the air always seems to be fresh and crisp. Or maybe it’s the sight of those small, traditional chalets scattered across the landscape.
The Weißfluhjoch is a mountain in the Swiss Alps that is known for its traditional chalets. These small, wooden houses are typically built with slanted roofs and large windows, and they are often scattered across the landscape. In the winter, the Weißfluhjoch is covered in snow, and the chalets become even more picturesque.
It is one of the familiar chalets that artist Willy Trapp has selected to feature on this beautiful Davos Parsenn poster. The wooden structure is portrayed half-buried in fresh powder. The snow lies thick and heavy on the chalet’s roof. Judging by the long shadows, the sun is low in the sky, suggesting its early morning and there’s already several ski tracks cut into the snow in front of the small wooden building. Trapp has included a cameo image of the popular Parsen Railway next to the name of the famous resort.
Poster artist Willy Trapp
This classic Davos Parsenn Poster was illustrated by the artist Willy Trapp. During his career, Trapp created several winter travel posters for many of the popular Swiss ski resorts.
He designed a series of travel posters for the Bernese Oberland, the Kandersteg skiing resort and several for Davos. He also produced commercial posters for companies such as Scholl, Schaffhauser Wool, Kaisers Orange Chocolate.
Two of his best-known posters were created to promote the Adelboden resort. One promotes the region in the summertime and features an impressively tanned tennis player. The second Adelboden poster advertising the winter months features of an airborne skier. Trapp also produced a version of this poster showing the region in the summertime. The Sommer in Davos version can be found here. They make a great pair.
