Lucien Boucher was responsible for many of Air France’s best travel poster designs.He started working with Ait France around 1935 and continued up to 1960. His wonderful poster designs for the Orient, South America and Grande Bretagne are fantastic pieces of work. It is, however, the delicately detailed planisphère map posters that he is probably best known for.

This vintage Air France poster features a double hemisphere world map. There are scenes of historical events in each corner. Flora, fauna, exotic animals, indigenous people, ships and sea monsters, all help make the map look like a 1600s Antique sea map from Mercator or Blaeu. The Air France global flight routes are highlighted in red spanning each continent. The poster reads: Planisphère Air France Sur Les Ailes D’Air France Découvrez Le Monde À Votre Tour. It is one of eight different planesphère maps Lucien Boucher produced for Air France. They are all magnificent.
