Adelboden Ski Poster Switzerland
This is a spectacular reproduction vintage Adelboden Ski Poster from 1910. Much like the resort itself, the poster has a relaxed, understated and classic quality to it. It was created by the artist Carlo Pellegrini for Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB), the Swiss Federal Railways to promote rail travel to the Swiss Alpine village of Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland region.
The poster doesn’t have the drama of some of the sportier skiing posters. Instead, Pelegrini’s illustration is wonderfully understated. It offers a more significant and poignant picture of the couple enjoying the beauty of the surroundings of the Alps around them. Instead of the ‘modern’ objective of getting down the mountain as quickly as possible and racing to the bar for a beer! The painting depicts a couple of cross-country skiers taking a well-earned break from their long trek. Pausing for a while to absorb the magnificent views of the Swiss Alps. The well-dressed woman has taken her skis off and her partner is smoking his pipe. The two of them are obviously looking at something and we’re left to guess what. Is it the sight of the recently introduced railway they’re watching, or other skiers making their way down the mountainside across the valley? Maybe they’re simply taking in the Alpine view! No! I’ve got it. She’s having a go at him because he won’t admit he’s lost! It’s intriguing!
The text on the poster reads – Adelboden Switzerland 4500 feet.
Is Adelboden worth visiting?
Adelboden is a charming village located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Sitting at the base of the Adelboden mountain, the village offers stunning views of the Alps and is within easy reach of a number of panoramic trails, circular walks, high-altitude tours, picturesque hiking trails and exceptional skiing slopes.
The Adelboden-Lenk region is one of Switzerland’s largest and most attractive ski resorts and is always ranked within the top four ski resorts in the Bernese Oberland.
In addition, Adelboden is home to a number of traditional Swiss chalets, making it an ideal place to enjoy a taste of authentic Swiss culture. Whether you’re looking for an active vacation or a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Adelboden is definitely worth a visit.
Adelboden is located in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental district of Switzerland. It is situated at an altitude of 4500 feet and it’s a Swiss gem of a town tucked away in the Bernese Oberland. Despite not being as famous as its Grindelwald and Zermatt neighbours, Adelboden is a classic Swiss mountain village where old chalets line the quiet main street. It’s a popular tourist destination for both winter and summer activities and is definitely worth a visit.

Our posters are carefully and professionally created from vintage originals. Whilst great care is taken in the production of these posters, we also try to maintain a vintage feel, so there may be small imperfections, fold marks, scuffs, tears, or marks that were part of the original poster master. If these do appear they should be visible on the larger views of the item on this listing. The originals of many of the posters we offer can cost many thousands of pounds, so whilst these posters look great, especially framed and mounted on a wall, they are intended as fun, affordable reproductions and not intended fine art prints.
The 50x70cm version has been specially produced to be used in conjunction with Ikea’s 50x70cm Ribba picture frame which currently retails for around £15. So you can bag a bargain of print and frame for a great price.
